You've probably heard the term "pony car," but you might not know what it means. In short, a pony car is a muscle car's little brother.
Pony cars still love a big throaty motor, but not to the extent of a classic muscle car. Smaller coupe bodies also allow them to dance seamlessly between the world of muscle and more traditional sports cars.
Pony cars trace their roots back to the first Ford Mustang, (hence the name Pony), but competitors like the Camaro, Tran Am, Firebird, Challenger, and Javelin soon followed.
